Taylor said the district intends to schedule disruptive work near the end of the school year rather than during the start of the next school year. To allow the contractor time for demolition, she said the high school office area will need to be vacated about two weeks before the end of the school year. Taylor also said district staff would begin community messaging once they meet with the contractor because construction staging could affect traffic flow.
Taylor did not provide contract dollar amounts or the contractor's name beyond the reference to Sitka, and she noted the schedule remains subject to the outcome of the bid protest and school board approval. The borough assembly did not take any formal action on the school district procurement during the meeting.
