Several residents used the March 11 public comment period to praise county and regional parks staff for recent repairs at Sacramento Bar and for pausing the Sailor Bar road opening while the parks agency reviews community concerns and ADA access improvements.
Sarah Mattson told the board she returned to speak about Sailor Bar after public outcry and said regional parks announced on March 6 that the planned opening to automobiles had been paused for further review. “I praise that and hope and pray that that is the case,” Mattson said, and she urged officials to use the funding that was provided to improve ADA access and plans.
Resident Wes Tranel described extensive work at Sacramento Bar and thanked parks staff and contractors by name for repairing irrigation, benches and barbecues. “This weekend I was down there, and on a non‑rafting weekend, there were already 40 cars in the parking lot,” Tranel said, describing renewed public use after the repairs.
Speakers said regional parks will review community concerns and ADA access; Mattson asked the board to ensure funding is used for the stated improvements. No formal board action was taken during the public‑comment period on the parks items; supervisors acknowledged the comments and the regional parks announcement during the meeting.
