Interim Personnel Services Director Joseph Shea told the board the charter and ordinance require a hearing in every odd‑numbered year to consider whether the geographical definition should change. Staff reported the collected data suggest no change is necessary; the presenter noted the definition has remained the same since the ordinance took effect in 1979.
The board opened the hearing, received no public testimony and then approved a resolution to retain the existing definition. The motion passed unanimously.
No parties spoke in opposition at the hearing, and staff reported timely public notice had been published and recognized employee organizations had been notified.
