Consent items presented included: adoption of an ADA transition plan for Recreation and Parks (required for national accreditation); a proposed resolution to waive the county residency requirement for an alcohol license for FS-92 LLC (applicant resides in Cobb County); surplus of approximately 860 sq. ft. of artificial turf from Senior Services (to be disposed because of holes/drilled mounting points); supplemental Criminal Justice Coordinating Council awards for the DUI court ($28,138) and the Treatment Accountability Court ($5,652) with matching budget amendments; and engineering recommendations to accept roadways and drainage in Haley Station subdivision and a section of Owl Creek Parkway for county maintenance.
The county manager summarized 19 manager items that will be on the evening agenda, including the Recreation and Parks strategic plan (see separate article), the aircraft valuation auditing agreement with cost-share IGA (separate article), a memorandum of understanding with the Board of Assessors to implement procedural tax changes from House Bill 581 (see below), procurement recommendations for firefighter physicals (Frontline Mobile Health), Motorola rooftop radio antenna upgrades for E-911 (sole source under state contract), IT network switch replacements and security cameras to meet cybersecurity insurance requirements, site construction services for the Katz administration building (federally funded FTA project with an 80/20 grant/match split), a professional services agreement for right-of-way mowing, the purchase of a used ADA-compliant 12-passenger bus for Recreation & Parks ($70,000 SPLOST-funded), vehicle purchases for the Marshals Office and Animal Control, a commercial HVAC maintenance contract for the Justice Center, and a recreation management system subscription for Recreation & Parks (annual amount not to exceed $123,834.81) to replace the current registration system.
Staff noted the Katz site work has an expedited tree-clearing schedule (trees must be removed by May 1 to avoid bat-mating season restrictions) because the project uses FTA funds and NEPA timelines. The manager also described the Marshals’ vehicle and animal-control truck purchases, and a senior-services bus canopy design-build contract ($250,000, CDBG funded).
The consent and procurement items were presented for the board’s consideration at the evening session; no formal votes on these items were recorded during the work session. The board adjourned to executive session later in the evening; that motion passed unanimously.
