At the start of the business portion, the board moved and seconded to “approve the proposed amendments.” The motion passed by voice vote; a formal tally was not recorded on the public audio for that specific motion. Chief Financial Officer reported the district had completed most bargaining sessions, saying the district hopes “to bring forward all of those agreements on the April 16 meeting.”
The board then approved the consent agenda with a voice vote. Later in the meeting the board voted to go into executive session under South Dakota Codified Law sections 1‑25‑2.1, 1‑25‑2.3 and 1‑25‑2.4; trustees affirmed the motion by voice vote and entered executive session. The board noted it would not take votes while in executive session.
The CFO provided context for the bargaining work, saying compensation accounts for roughly 85–90% of the district’s expenditures and that bargaining leaders have been meeting in multiple sessions; the CFO said two groups finished in two sessions, one group in three sessions and one remaining group expected to conclude soon.
Board members signaled they intend to consider final contract approvals at an April 16 meeting, pending completion of the remaining negotiations.
