Huerfano County commissioners approve tourism marketing contract award to Mission to Market Forward

Huerfano County commissioners on March 2025 approved awarding RFP 25-01 for tourism marketing and public communications to Mission to Market Forward, a company recommended by a review committee.

County staff told the board the request for proposals, released Jan. 17 as RFP 25-01, sought services including (1) destination marketing for Huerfano County through the county tourism board, (2) advertising county services such as the airfield, and (3) assistance with general public information and emergency communications. Proposals were due Feb. 10; the county received 15 submissions and a committee of tourism board members and county staff recommended Mission to Market Forward.

The board approved a motion authorizing the award and directing that the tourism board be asked to affirm the award and review the draft agreement before execution. Commissioners voted in favor: Commissioner Chamberlain (yes), Commissioner Woodhouse (yes) and the chair (yes). The motion passed.

County staff said the tourism board’s chair and the chair of the Board of County Commissioners would sign the agreement after the tourism board completes its review. No contract amount was discussed during the presentation. Staff also indicated additional work (senior training authority matters) is ongoing and that the county expects to return with a draft agreement and any required change orders.

Next steps: the tourism board will review the draft contract; the county will return the item for ratification and signatures afterward.
