Votes at a glance: Valley Center council actions on funding, contracts and ordinances

At its March 18 meeting the Valley Center City Council took a series of formal votes on funding requests, procurement actions and ordinances. The items below summarize each formal action recorded in the meeting minutes.

- Mud Daubers funding: Motion presented to donate $2,200 to the Mud Daubers (the city staff and budget references show a $2,200 amount). - RFPs for mowing and turf/tree/vegetation management: Council authorized staff to solicit bids for contract mowing services and for turf, tree and vegetation management services for 2025 (no dollar amounts were adopted; motions carried).

- Ordinance 14-21-25 (first reading): Council approved first reading of an ordinance to lower speed limits on North Meridian (92nd–96th blocks) and to set school-zone flashing speeds to 35 mph during school hours; staff and the council discussed signage and coordination with county jurisdiction where the roadway transitions. - Third Street curb and gutter replacement: Council approved a negotiated contract with APAC to replace concrete curb and gutter on Third Street at a cost not to exceed $16,003.80. (Motion and voice vote carried.)

- Booster station pump repair: Council approved internal repairs to booster station pump No. 1 and accepted the quote from CMBS in the amount of $28,820. (Motion and voice vote carried.)

- MOU with Trillo Family Trust: Council approved an MOU to pursue purchase of three downtown lots; authorization given to the mayor to sign the MOU. (Motion and voice vote carried.)

- Consent agenda: Council approved the consent agenda as presented. (Motion carried.)
