The presenter noted that under Robert’s Rules of Order, the board as a whole must vote separately for president, vice president and treasurer rather than casting a single combined vote for a slate: “It was suggested 1 vote, but I went back and looked at Robert's rules of order, so it still has to be president 1 vote, vice president 1 vote, treasurer 1 vote by the board as a whole.”
The presenter described a potential succession approach in which a new member would join the governance team each year and move up the ranks during a three-year elected term, and suggested that newly elected board members could be eligible to serve as vice president or treasurer. The proposals also included an idea that board members be certified before serving on the governance team so they “actually know the work of the board before they're on the governance team.”
