Council opens public hearing on Bellevue Entertainment District rezoning; third reading set for April 1

The Bellevue City Council opened a public hearing on Ordinance No. 4,179, which would rezone multiple parcels at or about the northwest corner of Highway 75 and Hidden Valley Drive from agricultural (AG) to mixed-use (MU) for a proposed Bellevue Entertainment District.
Diane, identified as president of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, spoke in favor, saying the chamber and its members support the project because it will provide family recreation, draw visitors and increase local business. “The chamber wants to speak up publicly just to say we support this project,” she told the council.
Council and staff noted a technical omission on the plat: Lot 22 was not shown on the drawing even though the legal description listed Lots 20, 21 and 22. Staff recommended correcting or verifying the plat prior to final reading. The council closed the public hearing and set the third reading — the final adoption hearing — for April 1, 2025, at 6 p.m. The council also opened and closed a separate public hearing for the preliminary plat for Lots 1–5 of the Bellevue Entertainment District; no public commenters spoke on the plat.
No vote on final adoption took place at the March 18 meeting. The ordinance was read into the record and will return for a third reading and vote on April 1. Council discussion at the hearing focused on completing and verifying the plat language and maps before final action.
