The Saratoga Springs City Council on March 18 adopted an updated municipal seal intended to align the city’s official emblem with its broader branding guide and to replace an older, rarely used seal.
Staff described the current seal as adopted in 2003 and noted it contained typographic errors and copied elements from other seals; the new design, prepared with the city’s public‑relations director and branding consultant, uses local imagery and follows the visual identity used on recent city materials.
Staff said the seal is primarily used by the recorder for official documents but recommended more frequent ceremonial use — for certificates, awards and other printed materials — to improve city cohesion. Council members generally praised the design and supported wider deployment of the seal on city certificates and recognitions.
The council voted unanimously to approve the updated seal and included direction from some members encouraging staff to incorporate the seal into city awards and other visible items.
