Village board OKs Northbrook Court change, OKs tutoring permit; Planning commission to review fitness-text amendment

The Village Board approved an amendment to the Northbrook Court Shopping Center master plan to allow residential development to occur prior to or simultaneously with retail development, Senior Planner Pandy told the Northbrook Plan Commission during the commission's meeting. The board also granted a special permit for a tutoring facility at 4201 Lake Cook Road. In a separate item, the board conducted a preliminary review of a proposed zoning-code text amendment to allow group fitness facilities in the I‑1 (Industrial Commercial Services) district; the board found the proposed use appropriate for a yoga studio at the Sky Harbor location and directed that the item proceed through the Planning Commission public‑hearing process.
