Public commenters call for ceasefire, unimpeded aid access and release of hostages in Gaza

During the meeting's public comment period, three residents urged the United Nations to press for a full ceasefire in Gaza, unimpeded humanitarian access and the unconditional release of hostages.

Resident 1, a public commenter, described graphic civilian harm, saying, "We're again seeing the scenes of mutilated bodies of children and bodies wrapped in shrouds." Resident 2, a public commenter, said, "After 15 long months of brutal war, again, no place is safe for children and their families in Gaza. Families who, this night, were woken up by very loud explosions and heavy bombardments across the Gaza Strip, including here in Almerwasi." Resident 3, a public commenter, urged a role for the United Nations and the international community: "I believe that the role of the UN is to do everything to convince the parties and to have the international community pressing for 3 essential aspects. First, for the ceasefire to be fully respected. Second, for humanitarian aid to have access to Gaza in an unimpeded way. And third, for the unconditional release of hostages. And we will not give up on these objectives."

Speakers emphasized the humanitarian impact on children and families and pressed for international pressure to secure immediate protections and relief. The commenters did not propose local policy changes or motions during the meeting. No formal action on the international issue was recorded during the session.
