Police Chief Makosi said polygraph testing is part of the department’s regular hiring process and that the department has one internal polygraph operator who cannot always meet demand. The contract would allow a third‑party provider to perform polygraphs and return results as part of the hiring process. Chief Makosi said the department has worked with Polytech since about 2019.
Committee members asked whether the company was a continuing vendor; Chief Makosi confirmed the relationship is a continuation. The committee voted to suspend the rules and give the ordinance a favorable report, enabling the department to finalize the contract and continue using third‑party polygraph services to expedite hiring.
