The committee heard status updates from the city and partner organizations on a range of projects funded through Richmond Rising, the collaborative that the city and six local organizations formed after receiving $35,000,000 from the Strategic Growth Council's Transformative Climate Communities program. Speakers reported on outreach, design work, workforce training, and project-specific spending; several partners highlighted upcoming community events, surveys and town halls where residents can provide feedback.
The meeting included a formal motion to approve the agenda and prior meeting minutes. Committee member Mayeli made the motion; a committee member recorded as Mvesa seconded it and the chair announced the approval. No roll-call vote tally was recorded in the transcript.
Project highlights included updates on the Richmond Wellness Trail and neighborhood complete streets work, on-the-ground outreach for an e-bike lending library and e-bike share expansion (including a District 5 hub survey), workforce and apprenticeship updates, tree-planting and urban forestry activities, and public education efforts such as a Know Your Rights training focused on immigration enforcement.
