Judiciary Committee unanimously introduces three bill-draft requests

CARSON CITY — After the SB 213 hearing, the Nevada Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously voted to introduce three bill-draft requests (BDRs) on March 12.
The committee approved BDR 3-1022, a provision relating to civil liability. Senator Flores moved to introduce the BDR and Senator Orenshall seconded; the chair announced the introduction passed by unanimous voice vote of those present.
The committee then approved BDR 12-901, relating to independent administration of estates and probate. A motion to introduce was seconded by Senator Wynne; the chair announced the introduction passed by unanimous voice vote of those present.
Finally, the committee approved BDR 14-492, which would create an Office of Alternate State Public Defender and an Office of Post-Conviction Counsel within the Department of Indigent Defense Services. The motion to introduce was seconded by Senator Orenshall and the chair announced the BDR’s introduction passed by unanimous voice vote of those present.
All three introductions were procedural votes to allow drafting; the committee record notes that a vote to introduce does not indicate committee support or opposition to the substance of any proposed bill.
