Superintendent Murphy told the board the item was a follow-up to action taken in February. Neola identified language updates based on federal and state requirements and case law; the board reviewed the updated resolution and adopted it after discussion.
The superintendent highlighted three specific changes called out in the resolution: destruction of educational records (page 10 of the packet), independent educational evaluation at public expense (page 14) and provisions concerning extended school year services. The revisions reflect legal and procedural clarifications to align district procedures with current requirements, Murphy said.
Board members moved and approved the resolution on a roll call. The board's action updates the district's model procedures and places the amended language into the official policy record.
