County Council approves extension and expanded membership for senior-services task force

Prince George's County Council committee members voted unanimously to advance a resolution extending the reporting deadline and expanding membership of the Holistic and Sustainable Solutions for Senior Citizens Task Force.
The Health, Human Services and Public Safety Committee on March 2025 voted to move CR 18-20-25 (draft 2) favorably, a resolution that extends the task force's final-report deadline to Feb. 28, 2026, and adds representatives from the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Adventist Healthcare, MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center and Luminess Health.
Sandra Eubanks, staff presenting the item, said CR 18-20-25 “was introduced and referred to the Health Human Services and Public Safety Committee on March 2025” and that the draft adds Luminess Health as a consideration for membership. She also noted the legislative budget and policy analyst David Noto concluded the resolution would have “no direct impact on expenditures and no indirect impact on expenditures and revenue,” and the Office of Law found no legal impediment to adoption.
Committee members moved and seconded the favorable recommendation and voted by roll call. The clerk recorded the committee vote as 4-0 to advance CR 18 (ayes: Chair Fisher; Council Member Blake; Council Member Watson; Vice Chair Hawkins). After the roll call the chair acknowledged support from the county executive’s office; Sekinda Skinner said the administration supports draft 2 and the inclusion of Luminess Health.
The resolution does not appropriate funding; it changes the task force timeline and membership only. The task force was established by CR 53-20-24; CR 18-20-25 modifies that earlier resolution’s deadline and authorizes the expanded membership to prepare and present a final report and summary of findings to the county council on or before Feb. 28, 2026.
Committee discussion on CR 18 was brief and centered on the change to draft 2, after which the committee voted to advance the measure. No amendments or budget actions were adopted at the committee meeting.
