Planning for Lost City Museum: Project 25PO2 is an advanced planning request for the Lost City Museum located in Moapa Valley near State Route 169. Brown said the $2.2 million planning request will produce design documents addressing ADA accessibility, drainage, windows, security, life‑safety upgrades and storage improvements; the resulting construction request would be filed in the 2027 CIP. Brown noted the request is the culmination of multiple unfunded agency requests dating back to the 2017 CIP.
Museum maintenance: The recommended CIP also includes four maintenance projects totaling $6.3 million: HVAC replacement and other climate‑control work at Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas, fan‑coil replacements at the Carson City museum, reverse‑osmosis filtration for humidification systems in Las Vegas, and exhibit modernization at the Nevada Historical Society on the UNR campus in Reno. Public works staff emphasized climate control and humidity systems are critical to preserving artifacts.
Funding questions: Committee members asked why the Carson City exhibit project was recommended entirely from the General Fund rather than room‑tax or agency funds. Curtis Palmer of the Governor’s Finance Office said he would follow up with details.
Outlook: Templed as a combination of visitor experience upgrades and preservation work, the projects are included in the Governor’s Recommended CIP with planning or construction requests staged across the 2025–2027 biennium.
