Council approves $37,337 supplement for downtown traffic signal modernization plans

The Lamar City Council approved Supplement Agreement No. 1 to the services agreement with Stanley Consultants Inc. for the Downtown Traffic Signal Modernization Project on March 18.
The supplement adds bid-letting administration and construction-phase management to the firm’s scope for the downtown project; the administration said the original September 2024 contract did not include those services. Staff described the modernization as necessary because parts for the existing downtown signals are becoming obsolete and some signal timing is not functioning properly.
Council confirmed the work covers three downtown traffic signals and does not include intersections by Hy-Vee or Walmart. The council approved the supplement at a not-to-exceed amount of $37,337.
Staff said the detailed plans will be presented to council at the April 1, 2025 meeting and that Stanley Consultants will handle bidding and construction administration once council approves the final plans and awards.
