The purchase was not originally included in the sheriff’s budget, staff said; the LERF board (law enforcement restitution fund) agreed to make funds available.
A motion to permit bidding on the vehicle and to use the LERF funds was moved and seconded; commissioners approved the request by voice vote. Staff said the purchase will be a police‑package pickup truck and that the funding exists in the LERF account.
No vendor or bid amounts were presented at the meeting; staff requested permission only to advertise a bid and proceed subject to procurement rules.
