Summary
Facilities Director Dan Kendall briefed commissioners on multiple county building projects including annex HVAC completion, courtroom moves, fairgrounds YDC building progress, new boilers and planned metal detector installation.
Dan Kendall, Bannock County facilities director, gave a monthly update on March 18 covering progress at several county properties. He reported the annex is expected to be completed in April after HVAC work finishes; courtroom and arraignment relocations to the second and third floors are done. Kendall said demolition of judge chambers has begun and audio‑visual equipment has been ordered.
At the fairgrounds, Kendall said underground utilities at the new YDC building are complete and crews planned to pour concrete once the frost is removed; he credited Road and Bridge for hauling rock fill. New boilers for the complex are in Pocatello and are scheduled for installation when the existing boilers are taken offline.
Kendall addressed security upgrades: metal detector installation at an entry will be coordinated with ADA access requirements and locksmith work to integrate remotes and maglocks. He said the detector fits the intended entrance and staff will use hand‑wands and alternate routes for oversized wheelchairs if necessary. Landscaping and signage timelines were also discussed; sod and final planting are expected in April.
