Union County officials said the United Way of Union County has been awarded a contract to manage youth programming under the county’s Workforce Development Board using federal funds.
Deputy County Manager (also serving as Director of Economic Development, Amy) told commissioners the contract will fund summer programs, financial-literacy classes and both in‑school and out‑of‑school youth employment opportunities. She said the funds added to the contract will allow United Way to establish an office presence in the city of Plainfield.
Commissioners asked for clarification about the initiatives; the deputy county manager said the programs will provide youth employment and related services across the county. No vote on the contract was recorded during the meeting; the department presented one resolution on the agenda for the commissioners’ consideration.
