County receives MPCA feedlot annual report: 108 feedlots registered, inspections and performance credits noted

County staff reported completing the required inspections (seven compliance inspections and one construction inspection during the reporting period), including inspections at sites of varying size (50–299 animal units and sites over 300 animal units). Staff reported two sites had not been inspected in about 10 years and were inspected this cycle.
The MPCA performance credits recorded on the report were originally listed as 19 but were adjusted to 25 following MPCA review; staff estimated a notional value of about $100 per credit and suggested the county should allocate approximately $2,500 tied to the program. The county will allocate those funds from the feedlot program budget as appropriate.
Staff indicated the county must perform a minimum annual inspection quota (expressed as a percentage of registered feedlots) and that the registration count affects the MTCA allocation the county receives. The board moved to accept the annual report and delegated authority as presented; the motion carried by voice vote.
