The City Council approved a slate of routine permits, contracts, hires and budget actions during its meeting, including liquor licenses for a new restaurant, a special-event permit for a winery, second readings of two rezones to a planned development, supplemental budget authority for a municipal truck purchase and several equipment and vehicle purchases.
Council members also set a special meeting to canvass election results and approved an application for transit bus funding that, if awarded, would not deliver a replacement bus until 2026 at the earliest.
Several personnel items were approved: seasonal hires for parks and the golf course and the hiring of a full‑time public works employee, Matt Jensen (Grade 9, step 1). The council approved purchases for an inspection vehicle and a used water and sewer service truck from Premier Truck Rentals and authorized progress payments for the water treatment plant project. The council approved pool and restroom renovation work at city facilities and a slurry seal pavement contract to Aztec as part of a joint Sioux Falls project.
The meeting included approval of Resolution 04‑25, which formalizes the city's travel policy and sets per‑diem meal and mileage reimbursements at current state rates. Staff clarified that the policy will track state rates and that receipts are required for reimbursements.
Actions taken were procedural and carried by voice vote unless otherwise noted.
