The House Higher Education Committee on March -- recommended a due-pass for a substitute to Senate Bill 193, keeping language consistent with prior committee review and incorporating a sunset date discussed by the sponsor.
The committee heard the sponsor's request to bring the bill back as a substitute with a sunset date. "Since you're in the chair, senate bill 193, you just bring that back to us as a sub with the sunset date you had talked about otherwise it's the exact same legislation that the committee saw a week ago," the chair said while calling the item. The sponsor indicated the committee could take questions but offered no additional comments. There were no substantive questions recorded.
Committee members moved and seconded a motion recommending LC 610181 S as a substitute to Senate Bill 193; a voice vote approved the recommendation and the bill was referred to Rules. Committee members indicated Representative Gaines will carry the bill in the House.
