Monticello activities director Gary Revnick presented the district’s winter and early spring activities report, highlighting conference championships, state qualifiers and program growth.
Revnick said the district, one of nine in the Mississippi 8 conference, competed in seven conference sports during the winter and won five conference titles; including Knowledge Bowl and Fine Arts results, Monticello claimed six of eight conference titles in categories the district tracks. He noted the school is among the largest in the conference by enrollment.
Highlights Revnick cited included a FIRST Robotics team that advanced to the semifinals in Grand Forks and finished sixth out of about 52 high‑school teams, dance advancing to the state finals for the first time in school history, and Knowledge Bowl winning the conference championship. He also listed state‑level achievements in swimming (top‑10 finishes and All‑State performers), gymnastics (state champion in multiple events and second‑place team finish), wrestling (three state qualifiers with a third‑place finish for Jasmine Downer), and basketball (girls team advanced to state for the first time since 2014).
Revnick thanked advisors and coaches by name and referenced several student standouts including Henry Stebner, Dawson Black, Nick Green, Courage Nurninho, Danny Pays Lemus, Ryan Eckerman, Sam Martin and Gabe McDermott among others. He also provided brief spring season notes: baseball and golf practices had started, girls and boys track were underway, and adaptive sports (softball, bowling, floor hockey team) showed strong participation.
Board members praised the coaches, athletes and staff and asked a few clarifying scheduling questions for upcoming seasons.
