School board approves Wright Technical Center 10-year facility maintenance plan, Monticello share $26,045.32

The Monticello Public School District on Monday voted to approve its proportionate share of the Wright Technical Center’s long-term facility maintenance plan for fiscal year 2024–25.
The school board adopted a resolution approving the cooperative district’s 10-year LTFM program in the amount of $167,000, of which Monticello’s proportionate share is $26,045.32. The resolution references Minnesota Statute Section 123B.53, subdivision 1, as authority for member districts to include their share of cooperative long-term facility maintenance revenue on their applications.
Tina Burkholder, the district’s director of business services, told the board that because the Wright Technical Center does not levy property taxes itself, its member districts must include the center’s LTFM levy on their own applications. Burkholder said the plan and the associated levy share are intended to be revenue- and expenditure-neutral for member districts, with each district’s contribution determined by recent weighted average adjusted pupil units and usage/access fees.
The resolution was moved by Casey Root and seconded by Jeff Hegley. The board voted “aye” and the motion passed, 4–0.
The board packet included an exhibit with the LTFM budget components and a notation that inclusion of Monticello’s proportionate share in the district’s LTFM revenue application is subject to approval by the Minnesota Department of Education. Burkholder said that upon receipt of the proportionate share of LTFM aid or levy proceeds, the district would promptly remit the applicable amount to the Cooperative School District.
No board members raised questions before the vote. The board noted that a bond payment had recently ended and that the LTFM plan increases were structured so the net impact to districts would be neutral.
