Williamston Middle School Principal Kelly Campbell has submitted her resignation for retirement after about 34 years with Williamston Community Schools, the district announced at its March board meeting.
Board members and Superintendent Adam praised Campbell—s long service as a teacher and administrator. Adam highlighted Campbell—s roles mentoring staff, helping implement curriculum and leading through the COVID-19 pandemic. "She has pushed herself through a tremendously difficult... several years of her life, and has made steadfast in her dedication to our district," Adam said.
Speakers recounted instances in which Campbell stepped into leadership and mentorship roles during emergencies and transitions. The board said it will plan a later event to honor Campbell and begin the administrative process for finding her replacement.
No timetable for an interim assignment or hiring process was given at the meeting; the board indicated more details and a formal recognition would follow later in the year.
