City announces park bond design workshops and new public-art exhibit

Shoreline — City Manager Mr. Ellington told the City Council on March 17 that Shoreline will host second-round design workshops for three park-bond projects and opened a new public-art exhibit at City Hall.
Ellington said the design workshops will gather community input for West Echo Lake and Hemlock Parks on Wednesday, March 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dale Turner YMCA teen rec room, and for Westminster Park on Saturday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. He said the projects are part of the park bond measure passed in February 2022 and that each workshop is open to the public to provide input on park features, amenities and themes. Ellington also announced a new exhibit, "All Eyes on Me," presented by the Shoreline Public Art Program and curated by Vincent Kiel. The exhibit features four local female artists — Lomar Merayar, Genora Swanson, Yolanda Gallery and Miriam English — and is on view on the third floor of City Hall during regular business hours through June 20. Ellington noted upcoming meeting dates for the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Tree Board (March 27), the City Council (March 24) and the Planning Commission (April 3) and directed residents to shorelinewa.gov/calendar for details.
