Northern Burlington board approves up to $2.3 million contract for synthetic turf and track resurfacing

Superintendent Dr. Zuckerman recommended that the Northern Burlington County Regional School District award a contract to Land Tech Group for installation of a synthetic turf field and resurfacing of the high school track at a cost not to exceed $2,300,000, and the board approved the award on a roll-call vote.

The project is funded with a $2,400,000 lease-purchase financing arrangement that, according to the superintendent, also provides funds to irrigate fields 12 and 13. Dr. Zuckerman said the board will see the contract as a non-consent resolution on the board agenda and that work is planned to begin the day after graduation and be substantially completed by Sept. 5, 2025.

Board members who voted in favor were Mr. Figgs, Mr. Armamente, Mr. Norwood, Missus Janice and Mr. Zimmer; Mr. Bucks abstained, citing a potential conflict of interest. Miss Williams conducted the roll call. The motion passed.

The superintendent and administration showed a rendering of the field during the meeting. The presentation described the turf as multi-sport (football, soccer, boys and girls lacrosse, field hockey) and noted adjustments including a larger high-jump area, replacement of both long-jump pits, and a drainage system separating turf and track runoff.

The business administrator provided links to the rendering, bid summary and the Land Tech proposal. The board discussed scheduling and impacts on facilities use and asked that related facilities-use policies be reviewed by the facilities/grounds and community relations committees.

No additional amendments to the contract were recorded at the meeting; the board directed staff to place the final contract documentation on the upcoming regular meeting agenda for final ratification and administrative completion.
