Tulsa fair housing committee schedules education events, plans veterans-focused town hall

Casey Boggs, chair of the Fair Housing Committee at the Tulsa Human Rights Commission, told commissioners on March 30 that the committee will host a series of free fair-housing education sessions starting April 1 aimed at tenants, landlords and real estate professionals.
"We're gonna get tons of opportunities for tenants, landlords," Boggs said. The committee has partnered with Tulsa-area fair-housing partners and will offer tenant-directed sessions where landlords will not be present, as well as landlord- and realtor-focused programs that include continuing-education credit for realtors.
Boggs said the committee also plans a town-hall-style event focused on veterans, modeled after prior sessions the committee held on LGBTQI issues. "The next one is vets," Boggs said; she invited partners to help organize an event that would include outreach and meals for attendees.
Committee members said the sessions are intended to reduce misconceptions about fair-housing protections, increase awareness of rights and resources, and provide practical guidance for both tenants and landlords.
The committee encouraged commissioners and community groups to publicize the events and to refer veterans’ service organizations to help reach the intended audience.
