Consent agenda and minutes: The board approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of Feb. 3, Feb. 7, and the Feb. 10 work session by voice vote after motions and seconds were recorded.
Retiree recognition and proclamations: County Manager David Ellis presented retiree recognitions for three employees. The board adopted proclamations recognizing March as Women’s History Month; March as Wake Up and Read Month; and March 15 as Girl Scout Week. League of Women Voters president Helen Zimmerman, Wake Up and Read representative Marissa Smith, and Girl Scouts regional director Jasmine Sanchez accepted proclamations and spoke briefly. Each proclamation was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; no opposition was recorded in the transcript.
Appointments and boards: The board approved a list of appointments and reappointments covering multiple advisory bodies and intergovernmental seats for March (items included appointments to Alliance Health, Capital Area Workforce Development, Energy Advisory Commission changes, fire commission reappointment, various municipal board recommendations and others). The clerk read a long list of names and seat descriptions; the board then voted to approve the March appointments by voice vote after a motion and second.
Public comment and other routine business: Staff reported one online general comment on forested trails. The board approved moving several regular-agenda items forward and later addressed the public hearings and the tax revaluation and rezoning items.
Closed session: The board entered closed session under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143‑318.11(a)(4) to discuss matters relating to location or expansion of industries or other businesses. The board returned to open session and reported there was no action to take on the closed-session items and then adjourned.
