Cawkri said the loss of local assisted-living capacity forces families to place relatives far from town and urged the council to add senior housing and services to the comprehensive plan, which he said currently emphasizes workforce housing but lacks specific language for elders and disabled residents. He said his group has incorporated as a 501(c)(3) and is seeking roughly 2 to 2.5 acres of land to develop a new assisted-living facility.
No council action was taken during the meeting; the comment was recorded during the public-comment portion of the agenda.
