House panel forwards bill to repeal outdated Department of Agriculture language to General Register

The Minnesota House Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee on Wednesday voted to send House File 2155 to the General Register after lawmakers said the Department of Agriculture and the Board of Animal Health requested deletion of obsolete statutory language.
Chair Anderson moved the bill to the General Register and members approved the motion by voice vote. Michelle Medina, service director of government relations for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the Board of Animal Health, testified that the sections targeted in the bill are “obsolete language that just needs to be deleted.”
According to Chair Anderson’s presentation, House File 2155 would repeal two statutory provisions: one related to a rabies proclamation and another concerning the sale of branded livestock. Medina said the Department provided the language changes and supports using the bill as a vehicle to remove outdated provisions.
No members of the public testified for or against the bill, and the committee moved the measure forward without amendment. The bill now proceeds to the General Register for scheduling and further floor consideration.
