Staff presented a proposal to apply to the State of Maine Public Safety Health and Wellness Reimbursement Fund for $183,003.84. The program reimburses screening for public-safety employees at risk of cardiac or metabolic conditions; participation is voluntary and reimbursements will be limited to the number of public-safety employees who participate. City staff said the grant requires no local match.
The committee also approved sending to council a proposal for Bangor to apply for a Maine Emergency Medical Services Stabilization and Sustainability Program allocation. Staff said the city's formula allocation for 2025 is $192,564.77 (down from a $200,000 allocation the prior year). The funds are intended for EMS-related equipment, training and software; staff said there is no local match and that the money is available under the state formula.
Both items were approved to go to full council next week as council orders authorizing application. The meeting transcript records committee approval but does not include a roll-call vote tally in the committee minutes.
