At the Oct. 5 meeting Touch Commission members were briefed that the city’s Public Works department and a transportation consultant (Transpo) are working on updated off‑street parking standards. Staff said current parking requirements do not match existing conditions on the ground, making it difficult for applicants and reviewers to know required parking for projects.
Commissioners expressed support for the consultant-led update and asked staff to report back when the consultant’s work is ready for commission review. Staff said they believed the consultant would present at a future meeting and that the parking standards work would interact with other initiatives such as the MVC (mixed‑use or multimodal code) and design standards.
No motion or vote was recorded on the parking standards; the commission’s direction was to await the consultant’s recommended changes and to schedule a presentation when available.
