Administrators gave the board a monthly update showing progress across multiple strands of the district strategic plan, with items spanning instructional coaching, special education pathway redesign, multilingual education, social‑emotional learning and budget transparency.
Instructional coaching and PLC work
District presenters said the three‑year professional development plan is intended to raise rigor and student achievement. Elementary instructional coaches have enrolled staff in goal‑based instructional coaching and staff‑reported participation has grown to roughly one‑third of teachers. Secondary department chairs are running a “PLC Reset,” designing learning experiences, interventions and reteaching plans within departments.
Special education and multilingual services
District staff described work to revise special‑education service pathways that began in 2024–25. The effort includes several focus groups: a leadership collaborative to ensure equitable access across schools and a second group of special‑education case managers building competencies aligned with multi‑tiered systems of support (MTSS). Separately, the Multilingual Education (MLE) team continues partnership work with consultant Adelante to deliver biliteracy professional development and to use staff feedback to shape follow‑up training.
SEL and wellness
Staff highlighted a new board‑approved board‑certified behavior analyst (BCBA) role that helps align behavior interventions and social‑emotional learning supports; administrators said the position helps principals and assistant principals access SEL procedures and behavior supports. A staff wellness day drew 490 survey responses; staff reported 424 respondents rated the event a 5 on a 1–5 scale and overall wellness measures also scored highly, according to the presenter.
Parent and budget engagement
The district will convene its stakeholder advisory committee next week to gather teacher, administrator, parent and community input on instructional technology priorities. Administrators also briefed the board on the FY26 budget rollout: a new budget form includes more detailed footnotes and narrative to explain financial reports. The communications team is continuing district “welcome boxes” to local businesses and the facilities team is completing fall health and life‑safety inspections.
