Trane presents Energy Star certification to Silver Creek Primary; district reports energy savings

Sarah Sweeney, service account manager for Silver Creek Schools with Trane, told the board that Silver Creek Primary School earned Energy Star certification for 2024 and presented a plaque to the district.
Sweeney said the district's participation in Trane's intelligence services program since 2021 has yielded districtwide energy-use-intensity reductions of about 13% and a roughly 37% reduction at the elementary school, producing more than $600,000 in operational and energy cost avoidance. She described the Energy Star building criteria as performance in the top quartile of comparable buildings and requirements related to indoor environmental quality: adequate outdoor air ventilation and appropriate lighting levels for learning.
Administrators accepted the recognition and invited a photo with a named staff member who came forward. The district plans to pursue recertification for 2025.
