Council approves preliminary plat to advance 100 & Fifth redevelopment east phase

The Blaine City Council on March 17 approved a preliminary plat for the east phase of the 100 & Fifth redevelopment, allowing the developer to dedicate right-of-way and proceed with public infrastructure improvements in 2025.
Development staff said work on the west portion began last fall and that building demolition on the east portion had started within the last 30 days. The plat dedicates a new segment of 106th Avenue (highlighted on staff maps) and shows two large outlots, labeled Out Lot B and Out Lot C, that will be subdivided into final development lots once property lines for future buildings are finalized.
Director Eric Thorvig told council the city is still working to acquire one remaining property on 100 and Sixth Lane; the road crossing that parcel will be platted once acquisition closes. The Planning Commission held a public hearing on March 11, received no comments, and recommended approval with the staff conditions included in the report.
Council Member Masolia moved to adopt the resolution approving the preliminary plat; Council Member Newland seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
