Revere trust schedules kickoff for senior home repairs program

At the June 11 meeting the Revere City Affordable Housing Trust Fund Board announced a kickoff meeting next Tuesday at 1 p.m. to begin implementing a senior citizen home repairs program the trust will help administer.
Joe Gravalese said the session will be at City Hall in the conference room with a dial-in option for people who cannot attend during the workday. The meeting will include finance, health and human services staff and others to discuss application review workflow and payment mechanics, such as paying contractors directly versus issuing checks to homeowners and the language needed in contracts to monitor repairs.
Gravalese said the program was delayed while the board considered outsourcing versus performing administration in-house; the decision was made to run the program in-house and timing was affected by the municipal budget process, but the city now has the capacity to move forward.
Board members were invited to the kickoff and staff will report back to the trust with an implementation plan following that meeting.
