Planning board recommends rezoning 27.5-acre Interstate Outdoor Storage site from I-2 to I-B
Summary
The planning board recommended that the mixed parcel along I‑95 owned by Interstate Outdoor Storage be rezoned to Interstate Business (I‑B) to achieve consistent zoning across two parcels totaling about 27.5 acres; staff said the change aligns with interstate-corridor commercial uses for lodging and traveler services.

The Town of Selma Planning Board recommended that two parcels owned by Interstate Outdoor Storage be rezoned so the combined property is in the Interstate Business (I-B) district rather than the heavier-industrial I-2 classification.
Planning staff told the board the combined acreage is about 27.5 acres, that part of the property is already zoned I-B and that the rezoning would make the entire holding consistent. Staff also described the districts: the I-2 district is intended primarily for heavy industry and may create nuisances not compatible with residential or commercial uses, while the I-B Interstate Business District is intended “to provide for the orderly development of land for appropriate commercial and lodging areas that serves needs of the traveling public on the interstate of Highway 95.”
Staff recommended, and the board voted, that the proposal is consistent with the town's land-use plan and moved to recommend the rezoning to the town council for final action. Board members discussed a mapped parcel that staff identified as inconsistent on the future land-use map, but the board’s recommendation sought to align zoning across the corridor.
