Board waives second readings on fundraiser and bus-conduct policies

The Milan Special School District Board on May 19 approved for adoption the fundraiser policy revision and waived a second reading for two policies, including fundraiser policy 2.601 and bus safety and conduct policy 6.308.

Dr. Hamlet told the board the district revised fundraiser policy 2.601 to clarify that Milan Special School District "may assist up to 25%" for eligible fundraising activities; the policy also includes a cap of $10,000 per fundraiser. Dr. Hamlet said the bus safety and conduct policy 6.308 remains as previously written.

Board member Mr. Crocker moved to approve the first reading and waive the second reading; Mr. Mallard seconded the motion. Members voiced approval and the chair announced the motion passed. The motion was recorded as a single action covering both policy items on the agenda.

The policy packet presented to the board shows the 25% assistance limit and the explicit cap of "not to exceed $10,000"; no further amendments were made during the meeting. The board did not reference any state law or outside regulation during the vote.
