Committee asks city manager to ensure HACA receives lease modification/diversion funds before fiscal year end

Members of the Housing & Human Welfare Committee raised a brief procedural item May 29 concerning funding for a lease modification/diversion program previously discussed at the committee.
Alderman Gay asked the acting city manager to follow up on whether the funds — referenced in the committee’s April 12 meeting as intended for HACA to operate a lease modification/diversion program with a nonprofit partner — are being delivered to HACA through direct payment or whether a supplemental appropriation to the city council is required before the fiscal year ends. “I just want to make sure that … HACA would receive this funding to move forward,” Alderman Gay said.
The acting city manager agreed to connect with finance staff and follow up with the committee on the disbursement mechanism before the fiscal year closes. No formal vote was taken on the item at the meeting; members asked that the matter be resolved promptly so the program does not forfeit fiscal-year funding.
