Leawood swears in Britney Brown as division chief of prevention and city fire marshal

Fitchfield said Brown has published articles in trade magazines and that the department was "super excited" to have her join the team.
The city clerk administered the oath of office, after which Brown spoke briefly. "My family is so excited to move to the state of Kansas, and I look forward to working with all of you through the years and helping Leawood grow and become really proactive in fire safety," Brown said.
Mayor Mark Elkins and council members welcomed Brown and the chief thanked the council for its support. No formal vote was required for the swearing-in; it was a ceremonial personnel action recorded on the meeting agenda.
