Hallandale Beach CRA debuts mural video; Art Walk trail on hold as costs rise

The Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency on May 21 presented a promotional video of public murals and discussed the status of the Art Walk trail, which staff said is on hold because approved funds no longer stretch as far amid rising costs.
Executive Director Dr. Earl introduced a staff-produced video highlighting murals created through the CRA's commercial business mural program. "Public art brings a community to life," the video says, and Dr. Earl thanked Director Lazaro for prompting the marketing effort.
Board members praised the video and the murals. Director Adams complimented CRA staff for their outreach during a recent Southwest meeting and Director Lazaro asked about the status of the Art Walk trail, which she said she had supported in prior approvals.
Dr. Earl said designs for the Art Walk trail are being finalized but that inflation and related cost increases over the past several years have put the project on the back burner until additional funding is found. He encouraged exploring outside partnerships and noted the county MPO "Let's Bike" program could be invited to run a demonstration ride to highlight how a trail connection to the park might work.
Staff did not identify a funding source or timeline for restarting the Art Walk trail project during the meeting.
