Washington County chiefs form subcommittee to develop regional EMS plan; committee reviews municipal data

"We do have a subcommittee as described at the going forward meeting that is currently in the process of formulating a strategic plan for the recommendations that have been put forth by health care strategists," said Mr. Hussein, a committee member, describing the county-level work. The committee heard that a county chiefs meeting was scheduled to continue discussion.
Committee members were given a spreadsheet analysis that breaks out statistics for each municipality and provides a "30,000-foot view" of service volumes, the presenter said. The presenter noted West Bend Fire uses a different dispatch system and that the West Bend numbers in the packet were drawn from that department's FirstView data; the committee packet also contained dispatch-center data for other jurisdictions.
On cooperation and buy-in from fire departments, the committee member said the chiefs-level subcommittee includes representatives from career, combination and volunteer departments and that "it's being very well... I know that at the subcommittee level, it's just the fire chiefs that's been put together by career departments, combination departments, and volunteer, and they're working together very well." Committee members said more work and review of the numbers by supervisors and district representatives will be needed to understand area-by-area impacts.
No formal policy decision was made during the discussion. Committee members were directed to review the analysis and prepare questions; a county chiefs meeting and subcommittee work were cited as the next steps.
