Hallandale Beach CRA approves $328,041 increase for Northeast First Avenue streetscape project

Executive Director Dr. Earl said the project will be staged in roughly 300-foot sections and is expected to last as long as 18 months. "It will be messy and we are going to be losing a lot of those parking spaces in the short term," Dr. Earl said, adding the agency will work with maintenance-of-traffic consultants, the city engineer and contractors to reduce disruption.
Dr. Earl described plans to keep parts of the corridor open by alternating construction and parking areas, briefly converting sections of the one-way roadway to two-way traffic during work and exploring a shuttle or trolley linking the new FEC parking lot to the corridor. "We're going to be staging the project in sections... Have the ability to have, some type of maybe trolley system or something that goes, that helps people to go from the parking lot," he said.
The board also set a stakeholder meeting for Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to update business owners and other stakeholders; Dr. Earl said CRA staff have been meeting in person with business owners along the corridor.

The board authorized the executive director to execute contract amendments necessary to implement the increase.
