The Kenai Peninsula Borough Finance Committee held a public hearing on Ordinance 2024-19-36, an ordinance to appropriate and allocate commercial passenger vessel tax proceeds from the state of Alaska to the City of Seward and the City of Homer.
The measure, introduced by Mayor Michicky, implements the borough distribution of the 2024 commercial passenger vessel tax (a per-passenger levy). Ms. Geerz, who presented the ordinance at the microphone, said, "This is my first time, so go easy on me," and described the allocation breakdown included in the meeting packet.
The packet lists the distribution as $4,612.50 to Homer and $527,982.50 to Seward. Committee members asked no substantive follow-up questions and did not move to a vote during the finance committee session.
The ordinance was presented for public hearing; further action or a formal vote was not recorded in the committee’s remarks during the meeting.
