"22,000 property owners get the postcard incorrectly," the speaker, identified in the meeting as Miss Syed, said, adding the postcard error involved notices and that some property owners reported not receiving formal notices when agents were registered with the appraisal district.
Syed told trustees she asked about the problem at a county town hall April 24 and that the appraisal district later acknowledged a computer error. She said the countywide preliminary values showed an average decrease of 8 percent and advised homeowners whose values appear unchanged to file protests.
Syed also raised a business personal property exemption question, saying the district-level effect was not provided. "With the new BPP exemption, the 85% of county's BPP account would pay $0 on the school taxes. So it's $8,038,000 accounts. It's countywide," she said, adding that she did not receive a specific Arlington ISD figure from appraisal district staff.
The resident concluded by urging clarity and noting that she had brought the concern to local officials' attention. The board did not take formal action on the comment; the matter was presented during the non‑agenda public comment period.
