Arlington ISD trustees elect officers in annual reorganization vote

The Arlington Independent School District Board of Trustees elected Justin Chapa as board president, Sarah McMorrow as vice president and Brooklyn Richardson as secretary during its May 15 meeting, the board said in a unanimous vote.
The election was part of the board’s annual internal organization. Trustee David Wilbanks moved the slate and Trustee Fowler seconded; President Justin Chapa announced the result: “7 in favor. No opposed.”
The reorganization vote followed the board’s closed session, which the board said ended with no action taken. The annual officer elections are a routine part of the board’s calendar for assigning leadership roles for the coming year.
The motion to elect Chapa, McMorrow and Richardson carried without recorded individual dissents. Trustee Wilbanks made the motion and Trustee Fowler seconded. The board then moved on to committee and staff reports.
The meeting also included earlier ceremonial swearing-in events for trustees David Wilbanks (Place 4) and Justin Chapa (Place 5). Those oath ceremonies were presided over by Tarrant County Criminal Court No. 2 Presiding Judge Carrie Walker and notary Ruth Beasley, respectively.
